Hello Internet-
For a while, I haven't thought about my real beliefs. The Secret, by Rhonda Byrne, that so greatly lead my life in optimism had slowly been slipping out of my mind. I thought about an old friend about a week ago, a friend who introduced this book to me. His recommendation changed my life for the better, and I will be ever grateful to this man, however, the next day after he crossed my mind he called me. It was The Secret working it's magic- there is no explanation. I haven't talked to this old friend in 6 months, and randomly after I think about him he calls me? Coincidence- I think not... I asked for it.
Lately, these "coincidences" have been happening a lot, or at least I am noticing them more often. All we have to do is think positively and put that out into the universe, and sure enough- it'll come back. Life has been a struggle lately- or so it seems. The constant arguments, the feeling that I'm lost, dealing with issues I have hidden so deep, etc. it seems as though fate has been messing with me. Taking a step back, I realize I was letting myself drown in that "pool of negativity" I was talking about, and how is that a good way to live?
I called my mom after talking to my friend crying- telling her I hated where I was. It was so depressing and cold and every negative word in the book..that's not going to make it any better. She said, "Maybe that's why you went there, to figure out how to create your own happiness." We wait for happiness to be created for us, or for things to happen that make us happier, but why is it so hard for us to just be happy with what is there in front of us.
For me, I don't know about you Internet- but it's hard to create my own happiness when everything that surrounds me doesn't make me feel better. So...how does one create their own happiness? Well, I created it by finally coming home. Being with my dog, on my own, time to myself, and relaxing I have become closer to who I was before I went back to school. We need to come to terms with ourselves- and who we are, not what we want to be. The only way to do that...is to ask for what we want, use the secret to our advantage :).

The "R" Factor.
Hello Internet:
Today started out good. Slept in late, almost missed my first class, yet again :-). But for some reason I forced myself out of bed, and made myself get to class. Sit through class, had a quiz, leave early, go talk to another teacher about material on our test on Monday, go to Starbucks.
As I'm waiting in the ridiculously long line at the coffee shop, I was texting (no surprise there). A man to my right goes, "I guess it's the thing to do: text in line?"
Confused at the small talk he was trying to make I replied, "Excuse me?" Really I just didn't hear him. So, he repeated himself. Then goes into detail are you a student here? What's your major? I replied. Then I asked what he was doing here, visiting?
This man replies, no I work with a management company and am giving a speech at your school today.
(my eyes widen...considering my plan in college is to dual major in management. HELLO!!!! RED FLAG WAVING!! PAY ATTENTION!)
So as I ask more about what he's going to be talking about we get into this 30 minute conversation about life pretty much. I mean he was talking about his "business" and the theories he has with his business, but all awhile it all intertwined with the book I talk so highly about The Secret.
So anyway, he explains to me: Three men can go through the same experience. One man can go through it and lose sight of who he is. Get defeated by the tragedy that just happened. The loss in his business if you will. Another man may go through the same experience and not be moved by it. The business stays consistent. The third man goes through the same experience and thrives from this tragedy. Learns from it and makes his business successful.
(Sounds to me like he's talking about not just business but life.)
So we get to the line, order drinks, etc. While we wait I had to ask.
"Have you ever read this book called The Secret by Rhonda Byrne?"
His response:
"I always read. I have read everything, but my only problem with The Secret, is I don't think it's about the law of attraction and wanting things to come to you. I think it's about the person being effective, and being aware of their life. (HOLY SHIT THIS MAN UNDERSTANDS MY MIND!!!!- is what was going through my mind.) It's funny because a lot of people are just oblivious to their flaws, their strengths, what their doing in their life; they just don't realize who they are. The thing is, is people try to criticize, to help, and people see it as bad and get defensive. If people accepted the criticism and were more aware and effective with how they ran their life people would be much happier and successful. When I was talking before about the situation and the three men, there are always going to be negatives and positives in our lives. It's how we maneuver around all these obstacles that make us either a successful person or a not successful person."
The man is so right. By the way, his name I later found out is Tim Kight. Check out his website- may be some useful information.
www.focus3.biz
And, he also told me about this book he's coming out with called- you guessed it.
"The R Factor"
LOOK FOR IT ON BOOK SHELVES I PROMISE YOU THIS MAN KNOWS WHAT HE IS TALKING ABOUT!
But think about it, we always are looking at the negative things, and not the positives in the situation. Like I have talked about death before, so did he. He said people need to start using that as a way to better themselves. Basically, see the optimistic side to things.
After the long chit chat, He says: "Maybe our paths will cross again".
NOW!! If I have learned anything from The Secret, is that things happen for a reason. Whether you attract them to yourself or not.
I was supposed to have that conversation, and supposed to be at starbucks and be late to help a friend for that reason. Life works in funny ways Internet.
Start looking at how things are kinda just handed to you. Start paying attention to the little things, because BIG things could happen from them.
Enjoy the day Internet...I am :-)

Communication
Hello Internet-
So I want to start this entry by stressing how important communication is between two people. Whether it be friends, family, companions, or especially roommates. If there is no communication, emotions build and things are said or done that weren't intentionally meant.
For example. My roommate a sweetheart, very peppy, and loves to have fun and go out all of a sudden stoppedtalking to me, or in general around me, gave me and my friends dirty looks and stopped beig considerate of me and my room as well. Today after me and a friend left the room I finally texted her and was like look I'm sorry if I did something wrong, but would like it if you talked to me about it. So after a few weeks of awkward looks and silence, she finally tells me she doesn't feel comfortable coming home to her room anymore. And the reason why made me laugh. Because I have close friend here who is of a different sexand I enjoy spending time with him that irritates her? But that's not even all of it. She took blew one of his comments way out of poportion and after that didn't want him in our room.
Granted she is busy with pledging and whatever she does- she is rarely in our room. But I do understand the fact that when she does come home, she doesn't wantto come home to people- she just wants to relax. Although, her one friend who is the same sex and is ALWAYS in our room is there when I want to relax and my roommate knows that I am not the fondest of her.
So, how is this fair? There are a lot of things other people may have that you don't, but honestly instead of getting hostile and angry do something about it. She had talked to me a while ago about how she wanted a good guy friend to just lie in bed with and talk with. I honestly think she feels comfortable when she's in our room- I think she just feels a little jealous I have something she doesn't. It's funny she has everything, perfect family, good girlfriends, a social life, etc but lately rolls have been switching and I am content with my life. Making girlfriends and getting a social life and an amazing guy to spend my down time with.
Here is the thing. We all want what we can't have, but instead of looking at what others have and feeling sorry for yourself- go and find it! Because it is outthere. If you really want something why wait for it to happen? Go and make it happen.
I want to share a quote that was emailed to me today....
"Whatever feelings you have within you are attracting your tomorrow.
Worry attracts more worry. Anxiety attracts more anxiety. Unhappiness attracts more unhappiness. Disatisfaction attracts more disatisfaction.
AND...
Joy attracts more joy. Happiness attracts more happiness. Peace attracts more peace. Gratitude attracts more gratitude. Kindness attracts more kindness. And love attracts more love.
Your job is an inside one. To change your world, all you have to do is change the way you feel."

Happy Birthday!!!!!
Hello Internet:
First I want to start this post off with a Happy Birthday wish.!! It is one of my closest friends' birthday, and I must say....HAPPY FUCKING BIRTHDAY!!!! :-) [excuse my language!]
To this friend I dedicate this post, they know who they are....
This friend even though has been in and out of my life and our friendship never seems to be quite consistent I know they are always there and vice versa. I think that's what we all need in life...just knowing someone is there and that comfort of a loving, caring friend. I love you friend- and I hope you have an amazing day!
But continuing on....
Today I had a discussion with a few peers, about this idea of rhetoric, and how persuasive talk and or symbols are "planned." But I ask you Internet, do we really know we are persuading others to do or buy or act a certain way? Do we all really think through everything we say? I know for a long time I just said whatever came to mind- most of the time getting me in trouble.... :-) But then I read this book... The Secret by Rhonda Byrne, (By the way I suggest everyone reads it- it is now my bible and gave me so much insight into what is really going on in life. I will probably quote the book quite a bit throughout the time of this blog.) after reading this book, I do admit I "plan" what I say even if it is with a friend or peer. BUT!! The main thing I think our culture forgets about is this idea of silence!
George A. Kennedy states in his Comparative Rhetoric book "Silence is the initial calmness that listens to what others say and shows respect for them and self-dignity. The value put on silence is not a denial of the power of words; Fox quotes... 'speaking is more powerful than any fight.' "
A week or so ago I made a new friend, our first what is normal to be "awkward silence" was not. He told me, "Wow, I thought that was going to be awkward but you didn't make it awkward at all..." something along those lines. But when you think about it, our culture or society is so hung up on talking and talking about ourselves or others especially GOSSIP-the worst and most disgusting form of communication our world knows-but we never appreciate the silence around us.
A couple days after the first "silence" with my friend...he told me, "I like the fact that you don't feel like you always need to talk." My response: "Talking is like crying wolf; you keep talking, people stop listening."
I hadn't realized how powerful my words were until he rushed to write them down to later try to incorporate them into a song. But it is true. Before every movie at a movie theater, what is the one saying we all know? "Silence is GOLDEN".... But when we think about it, in our world silence isn't golden. People LOVE to talk...but why? You can tell so much more about a person with what they DON'T say, then what they do.
So I leave you with this to ponder Internet: How much do you talk versus listen?
I challenge you to start listening and observing, you will be AMAZED at all you were missing out on. If you listen to what people say it'll give you insight on some things you may have been looking for. Listen and when "The right moment to speak" (Kennedy) occurs, talk. Sleep is the most peaceful time of my day, and it is always silent, our mind is silent, our thoughts are silent, our voices are silent, and that is why sleep is most important to me. Start listening.
